This mask and accompanying crown are inspired by the beautiful keeled scales of the African Bush Viper, which allow them to move invisibly through the trees. I have always had a fondness for snakes, having one for a pet as a child, so these pieces were something of an inevitability. The mask features hundreds of individually painted and arranged scales, accented with the violet fangs awaiting anyone who fails to keep their wits about them. The headdress references Grecian laurel wreathes and extends the colour scheme of the mask for a dazzling camouflage effect.
