This piece draws inspiration from the beautiful blue/green iridescence of dragonflies and the lace-like network of veins in their wings. The headdress, with its distinctly regal design, also references the queens at the heart of eusocial insect colonies. The mask uses one-way mirror film to completely conceal the wearer's eyes for a wonderfully alien effect. The mandibles extend the hexagonal compound-eye structure and offer a fitting ferocity to the design.
