This piece was inspired by my love of all things steampunk and references Clockwerk, the villainous mechanical owl from Sly Raccoon. The headdress juxtaposes the organic form of a horned owl with industrial tarnished brass and rivets to create a striking hybrid. The left eye is represented by an astrolabe, complete with an illuminated, colour-changing pupil. With movement and function being key elements of the Vernian aesthetic, the right eye takes the form of a fully-functioning clock.
